A LIGHTING REVOLUTION

D-D T5 MegaTwin Units

Complete Retro-fit units with tubes and reflectors.

The Original T5 Twin Light.

At D-D Aquarium Solutions our aim has and always will be to provide all aquarium enthusiasts with the most innovative and effective equipment available. By constant research we stand by our belief in providing you with the ‘Ultimate for those who want the Ultimate’.

Our latest lighting innovation enables all aquarists' to successfully mimic natural lighting environments in their aquariums. We have studied all aspects of lighting – from reflectors to tubes – to bring you our T5 MegaTwin units – the most effective and energy efficient lighting solutions possible.

The four innovative areas for this lighting unit are:

The Fitting

  • With our Mega twin light units the complete fitting and connections are completely sealed making them water resistant to IP67 so if they fall into the aquarium they are protected.
  • The light fitting has been designed with a channel at the top for efficient and safe storage of cables and transportation of the tubes.
  • When switching on there is no flickering which extends the life preventing the tubes from deteriorating.

The Reflector

  • The reflector has a unique Gull Wing shape which is designed to avoid, as far as possible, the light reflecting back through the tube therefore resulting in maximum light output and minimum waste of energy.
  • The reflector has been designed with a fold on each edge which prevents bending making it more durable and effective over a long period of time.
  • It is possible to tilt the reflector so the light can be directed according to preference without any loss of light output.
  • Depending on your output requirements the reflectors are available for use with 2ft, 3ft, 4ft or 5ft tubes (0.6m, 1m, 1.2m or 1.5m) with a choice of 24, 39, 54 or 80 watts.

The Ballast

  • The ballast is fully electronic – it does not need a starter – which achieves longevity of the bulb and the lowest energy saving per watt of any ballast system available. It is also able to tolerate power surges between 220-240v.
  • Our lights also included a mains cord with an in-line switch and plug.

The Tubes

  • All our tubes use an A1 phosphor blend which is imperative to maintain a five point light spectrum. This enables replication of natural light in your aquarium.
  • Our T5’s with A1 phosphor blend gives up to 10% more light per watt (using 40% less electricity) than can be obtained from an HQI (with minimal radiant heat) keeping the tank cool in the summer.
  • A tube Life of up to 15,000 hours.
  • Much thinner tubes than normal fluorescent T8 Type.
  • Our innovative A1 T5 lights are detailed below.

From D-D Aquarium Solutions

T5 tubes with A1 phosphor mix

D-D have formed a partnership with Giesemann to allow them to use the popular D-D T5 bulbs in their light fittings.

Together we have produced some attractive new packaging to allow you to immediately recognise the tubes on the shelves.

Aquablue Plus
A special 60:40 combination of 6000K and 22000K (approx) phosphor blend. It is specifically designed for reef aquariums mimicking sea water to a depth of one to twenty meters. It can be used for growing SPS corals up to 80cm in the aquarium. The tubes can be combined with Aqua Flora for freshwater, tropical fish and planted aquaria.

Actinic Plus
This tube has replaced the Deep Ocean Tube.

Its spectrum is generally as the deep ocean but as the name suggests it also emits high levels of Actinic Light. This is designed to make even the drabbest corals stand out by producing strong fluorescence.

Actinc Pure
Actinic pure is the latest of the latest T5 tubes produced by D-D.

It is not as blue as the Actinic Plus and has a pure actinic sprectrum for the ultimate in fluorescence from your corals.

Mid Day 6000
Rated at 6,000 Kelvin with a spectrum designed to recreate sunlight in both fresh and salt water aquariums. This tube can be used on both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

Aqua Flora
This tube is specially designed for Freshwater use. It brings out the blue and red colours in your fish whilst enhancing plant growth.

These tubes can be used in combinations. We recommend the Midday 6000 to be used in conjunction with the Aqua Flora for Freshwater. For saltwater you can use the Aquablue in conjunction with the Actinic Plus to achieve a deeper blue hue.

ALGAE GROWTH

Please note:
With high illumination of planted tanks growth is enhanced. However if there is an excess of phosphate the growth rate of unwanted and nuisance algae is likely to accelerate. To solve this problem we recommend that you use Rowaphos which successfully absorbs phosphate and silicate, removing the nutrients which the algae need to feed on without releasing back any of the absorbed materials.

Compact T5 Units

With compact T5’s it is not possible to achieve the same amount of luminosity per watt due to its u-bend shape. Our T5 tubes are have been designed straight to achieve maximum light output when used in conjunction with our reflectors.
